Scorchful
Dune-inspired, Vanilla+ mod focused on Heat-based temperature survival and combat - sister mod of Frostiful!
Scorchful 0.15.1 for Minecraft Neoforge 1.21.1
- Fixed a "duplicate position" crash with Frostiful
Scorchful 0.15.0 for Minecraft NeoForge 1.21.1
Scorchful has been ported to Neoforge! This port is possible thanks to Forgified Fabric API and the Yumi Minecraft Foundation Library. Big thanks to them for making this relatively easy to do!
This port is roughly equivalent to the latest Scorchful for 1.21.1,
0.15.11+1.21.1.Please note that this is an experimental Neoforge port of Scorchful. It is still in alpha, and therefore may contain bugs and cause crashes. This port has also been created in a 'Fabric-like' manner using Forgified Fabric API and custom entry points to minimize the changes needed from the original version, which means that it may not work very well with the Neoforge ecosystem. Proceed with mild caution and please feel free to report issues to the issue tracker.
Scorchful remains a Fabric-first mod and this port is not likely to be updated to new Minecraft versions regularly.
- Updated Distant Horizons integration with Immersive Storms

Scorchful 0.17.0 for Minecraft 26.1.x: Deadlier Sandstorms
A first new content update for 26.1.x. This update aims to make sandstorms more dangerous to both make them more interesting and to align them better with the storms of Arrakis.
- Breezes now spawn naturally in packs of 1-2 during Sandstorms (and Blizzards).
- They will spawn during both the day and night.
- This can be disabled via config, but is enabled by default.
- Sandstorms can now be made suffocating.
- This feature is disabled by default.
- When it is thundering, being outside in a sandstorm will cause the player to lose air.
- When the player runs out of air, they will take suffocation damage (this is a custom damage type).
- This does not apply to non-player mobs, as that would result in mass casualty events during every sandstorm, but it can be controlled with the entity-type tag
#scorchful:suffocates_in_sandstorms.
- Breezes now spawn naturally in packs of 1-2 during Sandstorms (and Blizzards).
Scorchful 0.16.9 for Minecraft 26.1
Scorchful is now available for Minecraft 26.1. The LTS policy for Scorchful has been updated, I now plan only to support the first game drop of the current year. For example, I will be supporting 26.1.x, but not 26.2.x. This is to allow me to focus more on creating cool new stuff for Scorchful, rather than spending almost all of my available time chasing the latest version. If a cool new major update releases mid-year, I may choose to update to and support that instead.
Changelog:
- Updated to 26.1
- Striders now get some armor when they are warm
- Added baby textures for Turtle Armor
- Added baby textures for the Sun Hat
- Fixed the Sun Hat rendering for specific humanoid mobs with meshes that are non-standard
- This applies to Husk, Wither Skeleton, Piglin, Zombified Piglin, Piglin Brute, and Zombie Villager
- These fixes are special cases and hardcoded, and will not work with modded humanoid mobs that have similar changes to their mesh.
Scorchful 0.16.9 Pre-Release 1 for Minecraft 26.1

- Fog is now slightly less dense in most cases

Scorchful for Minecraft 1.21.11
This update brings Scorchful to 1.21.11. Per the LTS policy, Minecraft 1.21.10 is now unsupported. Note that the LTS Policy for Scorchful has also been updated, 1.21.1 will now receive only limited support for fixes and minor changes.

- Upgraded config schema version
6->7. - Fixed some weird jumpiness in the soaking bar.
- Fixed a bug in the config auto updater that caused some settings to be set to incorrect values.
- To correct this bug, Schema V7 resets the following values in the temperature config to their default values, if the config was last saved using Scorchful 0.16.1:
soakedTemperatureMultiplier, coolingFoodTemperatureMultiplier, humidBiomeSweatEfficiencyMultiplier, extraHumidBiomeSweatEfficiencyMultiplier, aridBiomeSweatEfficiencyMultiplier. - This is unfortunately destructive to those settings, but it was the best I could manage. If you did not update to 0.16.1, then your config will be upgraded correctly and these values will not be reset.
- Upgraded config schema version
The Config Overhaul
This update revamps nearly every single config option available in Scorchful. Many options that were once values have been converted into multipliers. This allows you to achieve the same effect, while still giving me room to change things behind the scenes without messing up your config settings. All config files will be automatically upgraded and fixed to fit the new schema. Some bugs were also fixed with this update.
Note that as part of this update, the config translations have been removed, as many of them changed too significantly for me to preserve. The other translations are fine, only the config translations have been affected.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed the post-processing shaders for Heat Stroke and Fear (again...).
- Fixed untranslated Advancement titles and descriptions.
Config Updates
- Split the client config into two sections: 'Accessibility Settings' and 'Display Settings'.
- Added the temperature, item, and entity config sections.
- Removed the heating, combat, and thirst settings.
- Added two new options to the temperature config:
heatingMultiplierandcoolingMultiplier. These allow you to easily configure all temperature changes of their respective class in one go, without needing to tediously set individual temperature sources. - The config schema version has been changed from
1->6.
Client Config Split
The client config was removed and split in two: 'Accessibility Settings' and 'Display Settings'. Accessibility settings contains all client-side only options that were added to make Scorchful more accessible to different groups of end users. This is where you will find the options to disable the sound temperature effect, disable effect post-processing features, and to tweak the darkness of the Sun Hat.
The display settings contains the other rendering settings like status bar overlays and drip particles.
Converting Values to Float-Multipliers
Several new options based on floating-point multipliers were introduced where raw values used to be required. Existing values were renamed and normalized based on their original default value. This means that, for example, if you set the old
onFireWarmRateoption to36, it would be renamed toburningTemperatureMultiplierand then divided by its original default value of24to get a final setting of36 / 24 = 1.5. Or more simply, if you had"onFireWarmRate": 36, it was converted toburningTemperatureMultiplier: 1.5.- Patched Pink Sand from Nature's Spirit to integrate with Scorchful's Sandstorms
- This patch is 1.21.1-exclusive, as Nature's Spirit is not on the latest drop. If/when that mod updates, the patch will also be brought to 1.21.10.
